Creating an Edit Profile page

I have pulled the code in the attachment to allow my web members to view the info they entered when they registered for my site.  It works to view their info, but i really want them to be able to edit the info.  Any help?

I'd also like to be able to remove the search fields so the page would "know" which record to pull from the database by the info they entered when they originally entered their UID and PWD when they logged in to view their profile.

All of the code in the attached was pulled in from the front page wizard, so I'll need the kindergartener kind of assistance.

OK.
I just looked at the code in that page, and it is a total mess.
You stated that it is: Frontpage?

I would like to help you, but I cannot use that code in the page. It is not real to me.
I do not know what type of coding that is, I just know that it is generated coding.
And it is probably the reason why no one has touched this question.
BUT
I love to help and I LOVE to teach any one that is willing to listen and learn.

If you are willing to allow me to show you the proper way of coding, then I will help you as much as I can without actually doing everything for you.
Maybe with the information that I am going to post here, will give you enough know-how to redo your page yourself and get away from the Generated coding.

I am also a member of a site called: Planet-Source-Code. Please become familuar with it as there is a LOT of codes on the site that will help you in doing darn near about anything.
As well as my own Tutorials on the site.

Please have a look at the following, Study these and learn how they work.
Once you have learned how to do these codes and what they mean, then let me know
And I will help you to make your coding dreams on this post a reality.

Access Databse - Create Relationship's Between 2 Tables  Screenshot

ASP (How to use 2 different db connection, and show records)

If you choose to continue working with the Frontpage Generated Code, then I will try to help you with some links (If I can find some).
It is up to you on what you want to do, it is your site and your post.
You let me know where you want to go from here.

Good Luck

carrzkiss,

I checked out your links.  I understand about relating tables in a database, and I get a little bit about showing records with a database connection.  My problem is that FrontPage doesn't have an option to allow the web user (member) to edit the record that they're viewing (their "profile").

1)The database interface wizard allows me to create a subsite(?) that shows all the records in the database and allows one to be selected and edited.  I don't want the members to have to select their record from the whole list of members.

2)I also discovered a wizard that adds search fields to find and view specific records.  However FrontPage specifically says if the forms created by the wizard are modified with the results wizard (adding the search fields) then the page won't work.  And (surprise) they don't.

I don't see another option other than to create the page in step one, print the code, modify the page in step two, print the code, then compare the two line by line and see what is different between the two.

Any other advice?

I will help you, BUT.
You will have to do this on your own, WITHOUT the use of Frontpage or any other
Program except Access and and editor. (Frontpage can be used as long as you are
IN the [Code view] part of the program.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
1) - Frontpage is not the best program around for doing what you are wanting to do.
I hate the interface and I really hate the way that it displays the sql coding

2) - Using Frontpage and Dreamweaver for editing asp/sql database coding, will all give you that
Stupid error, about.. STOP!!!!!!! DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT USING OUR FEATURES OR THE PAGE WILL NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!!

That is stupid garbage.
You want to learn, I will teach you, but only the CORRECT way, not by use of code assisting programs.
Except For Access generated SQL Coding.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I will need to have a copy of your Database.
You can create a copy with just about 3 User Records in it.
And I will make you up a demo of how the user can edit the profile entries.

It will be tomorrow before I can get around to it.
As I am just up right now for lack of sleep.

Send me over the db.

My cable crashed last night, but now it is back up.  The database is attached.  As you can see, it is just the one table.

Thanks again.  I'm always ready to learn.

OK.
I will start on this, but as I stated in the above.
It is going to be done the proper way, NOT using no program generated code.
Except Access to create certain SQL's.

I did something like this the other day for a person that freaked out and wanted
It done using the program that he was using, so it was a wayste of my time
So hopefully you will appreciate what I am going to do, and will learn from it.

So.
With that said, I will have this ready either within a hour or so, or by morning.

I understand what you're saying.  Believe me, I fully appreciate your help.  BTW this is for a non-profit site for foster care parents in Arizona.

That sounds good.
I do not know if you have read my profile or not.
But on big projects like this one that I am doing for you.
I like to add it to my Resume, so if you would not mind.
Checking out my profile and send me an email with the information
That I ask, that would be great.
Doing something that deals with a "Non-Profit Organization" is always a good refrence point.

Have a good one.
(I am doing an Authentication for you as well, it is nice)

Getting ready to call it a night.
Need some rest.

Here is a demo of the Project
http://ee.cffcs.com/Q_24330659/login.asp
(Code not ready as of yet)

This demostrates the following:

#1: How to use cookies for a secure login. (Write to and Read from Cookies)
#2: Shows some CSS uses, on how to use CSS instead of HTML element properties.
#3: Shows how to Edit logged in Users Information.

Let me know what you think.
I will finish up the code later on, as I have to document some more area's and make sure that
Everything suites the way " I " would want it to be.

Programs used and what they were used to do.
Dreamweaver CS3 - Used strickly to create the layout ONLY!
Access 2007 - Used to work with the Database and to generate the SQL Fields ONLY!
CSS - Hand coded (Within DWCS3)
ASP/SQL - Hand Coded (Within DWCS3)

Have a good one.

I have to write up some documentation on it, as it is going to be used as a study guide for another site as well, once I get it ready, (By this evening, I will post the code up)

Have a good one, got to step out for a few hours.
