MS windows built in FTP client - proxy ?

How would I assertain whether the ftp client included in windows xp is using a proxy to connect to a remote host ?

    You can only work via internet explorer to use a proxy for FTP (download only) - check LAN settings in internet explorer configuration. Command line FTP does not use a proxy.

    in IE under your Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, Click LAN Settings, click Advanced your FTP proxy server can be specified in there.
