Expert: I have a few dot net asp web site that display Server Application Unavaible" while all of the other sites on same server work fine. Plus no memory or CPU problems exist and nothing in local logs stands out. However some logs said the aspnet_wp.exe could not be launched because the username  and/or password supplied in the processModel section of the config file are invalid.  While checking event_viewer log and entering refresh the server crashed . Curious if aspnet_wp.exe  is cause of problems and what did you think is causing the problem and should we possiblily check aspnet_wp.exe  for errors?

I got very similar situation when my applications were built using .NET 2.0, but ASP.NET settings in IIS Administration Properties panel for those virtual directories/sites were set to ASP.NET 1.1

    Try to check these settings.
