GroupPolicy Object in Vista

I am trying to open the group policy object on one workstation.  I am uisng administrative right sbut I get the error message.  Failed to open Group Policy Object on this computer.  You may not have the appropriate right.

I can open this from any other machine on our domain. This is a new Vista business workstation.

Alright. Then it could be an issue with the Registry OR OS itself. Can you run a repair of OS?

Are your user account in the administrative groups? Are you trying this to open remotely? Have you tried to add it through MMC?

I am using an administrative login with administrative domain rights.  I tried doing this through mmc and received the same error message.

Enable default administrative account, login with that account and then try. It is just for a test. Please post your results here.

I tried to use the default admin account and received the same error message.  I did a test  to  see if I could get into group policy on other workstation and I could.

Just to check your permissions on %system drive%\Windows\system32\group policy folder (Hidden) and %system drive%\Windows\system32\gpedit.msc.

For first one, you need full rights to administrative groups and for second one you need read and write access.
