WS-X6708-10G 64gbps of local switching

Hi experts,

Easy one here. I was reading on the X6708-10G line card and came upon this:

"8-port 10GbE module has 40 Gbps connection to the fabric and can demonstrate up to 64 Gbps local switching."

So it has 8 x 10GB ports and only 40gbps to the fabric so it's oversubscribed 2-1. My question is, it also says 64 GBPS of local switching. What do they mean by that?

Sounds to me like they're referring to traffic that enters one port on the card and is destined for another port on the card. Since it doesn't have to cross the backplane, you're not limited by that connection.
Don is correct.
