I've got 4 routers, 3 x 2610XM and one 2610, here is a complete sh ver & show diag for all of them. When I insert the card into the slot the lights on the card blink for a second but when I plugin the cable in it the lights don't go on. The card I use is an older one (I guess) generic 10BT Ethernet WIC ENET

It looks like only the 2610 router R2 shows:

Unknown WAN daughter card

The other 2610XMs show:

Unknown WAN daughter card
WIC module not supported/disabled in this slot

Can this be fixed somehow for at least the 2610? Like using another, compatible  IOS image?

Also, watch for fakes:
http://www.andovercg.com/services/cisco-counterfeit-wic-1ENET.shtml

Newer Cisco hardware will detect and quietly reject fakes. Turn on "logging buffered" and see if you have any error messages.

I also know that not all WIC slots support the WIC-1ENET.

wow! very cool! at least I know I got a router with a fake card :-) it didn't pass the Andover test and I could easily tell some of the eBay posting show clearly that the cards are fake too. Like no hologram or the bar code thing

thanks a lot
