Simple Date Calculation in Filemaker

I need to preform a simple date calculation in Filemaker.  I am new to filemaker and do not know how to accomplish this.  I have two date fields..say Date#1 and Date#2.  I want a third field to display the number of days between Date#1 and Date#2.  I tried to simply say Date#2 - Date#1 =, but it didn't work.

Thanks

make the result to be a number field, not a date.

The result field is set to number.
?? and are date1 and date2 date fields? or text fields?
Sorry for the confusion.  Let me be more presice.  I am working with a simple DB for Real Estate Listings.  The first Date is "List Date" (set to date field), The second Date is "Sold Date" (set to date field), the result field is "Days on Market" (set to number field).  The result (or DOM) is the number of days between the two dates.  Hope this helps clairify.

Thanks
there was no confusion, all OK. so that should work...
I can't see where you can be wrong with this so far. Can you post the file?
I couldn't upload the DB file (file extension not accepted).  Attached are some screenshots of the Preview & field properties.  Thanks.
