QB2007 is extremely slow over the network.

We have a workstation which is now a dedicated server running Windows Vista Home Premium. No other computers (all of which are XP) are sharing files. The speed between all of the PCs is great, EXCEPT for Quickbooks 2007.

We have setup the QB Database Server Manager as noted in the Intuit setup instructions. The Vista server has 2GB of Ram and an AMD 2.6Ghz Dual Core. The network is 100MBps and the adapter has been configured for 100 FULL.

All of the searches I have performed has yielded little info on our issue. I have applied all of the system and application updates.

Is there anything I can do to speed up this incredibly slow connection? The average DB size is roughly 100MB...which isn't that big.

Your data file is not particularly big (as you note). Did you look at the transaction log on the server? If it gets large (as large as the database) it can slow things down.

Also, I would not use Windows Home anything as a business server. It was not designed for this. That may be your issue. ... Thinkpads_User
Does the Vista machine have antivirus installed?  If so have you tried adding this file to the exceptions list?

Have you monitored resource usage on the Vista machine when trying to access the db?

Thank you. Both of your suggestions have improved the speed.
