i keep getting this appear in my event log and things such as my exchange and MSSQL services arent running (and should be!)

    How are they configured (status, start up type, log on as)?

    Assisted Solution

    Verify that you have all of the Windows updates installed including the Conficker patch.  Manually run Windows Update and install all critical patches.  

    Try to manually start each service and see if it fails.
