No DNS data through Microsoft VPN

Hi,

We are using the Microsoft Remote Access VPN server.
And it works just fine - except that it doesn't transmit DNS through the VPN tunnel.
So if a client needs to access the servers, they need to type the IP-address instead of the DNS name.

They automaticly get an IP-address to the VPN connection and also get the DNS servers.
I have tried changing the binding order on the clients, so that Remoteaccess RAS is number 1, but it didn't help.

Any suggestions? :)

There are several ways to enable DNS name resolution over a VPN. The primary one is to add the RRAS site's DNS server IP to the virtual/VPN PPP adapter of the client, under network connections as well as the domain suffix. You can also use the Hosts file but that is a bit of a nuisance to manage. My blog explains in better detail:
