SBS2008 and Server 2003 domain on same network

Can a SBS2008 domain and a Server 2003 domain co-exist on the same network?  I am migrating my server 2003 domain to a SBS2008 domain and trying to decide the best course of action to take.  Unfortunately I have not seen any good guides to move from Server 2003 (that is not SBS) to a SBS2008 domain.  Which is shocking because with the license increase of SBS2008 I imagine there are more people like me making the change to consolidate.

That's good help, my question (concern) is will a SBS2008 domain co-exist with a server 2003 native domain?  I don't want to upgrade my domain, I'd like to start fresh, but I'd like the liberty to move over at a pace rather than all at once.

You are going to have migrate over to the SBS. If you are going to start from scratch both networks need to be on different subnets and domain names if you want to start over.
