How can I give all users the right to modify power management for the XP computers in a OU?

My XP users are frustrated that their XP laptops to on standby when they close the lid. Is there any centralized way to give them permission to change power management settings?

I understand that they need permission to modify
* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg
* HKEY_ USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\PowerCfg

But how do I do that without having to log on to every PC? Probably some startup script defined in a GPO?

Power Management is controlled in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Controls Folder\PowerCfg

You should be able to use a GPO to set permissions on this registry key:

> Computer Configuration
>> Widows Settings
>>> Security Settings
>>>> Registry

Grant 'INTERACTIVE' the 'Set Value' and 'Create SubKey' rights on the GlobalPowerPolicy and PowerPolicies keys.
