Load External swf file using xml in Flash 8

Hi,

I have done a turotial with a 3D carousel in Flash, which can be downloaded from http://www.helewix.co.za/carousel3.zip

Now with me not being so clued up with flash just yet, I would like to know how one would go about loading an external swf file in the place of the text using the XML file that is already there, or load external images in so I can have different images (top and bottum) per page?

I would appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

actually you need to change the xml structure a bit and also the there will be small change in the code in fla.

do this.

open the fla file
click on frame one on action layer
and then goto line number 31 and comment it
// t.content = nodes[i].attributes.content;

then wrtie this line
t.movie=nodes[i].attributes.movie;

then goto line number 93 and comment the code
//      theText.text = t.content;
and after this line write this.
_root.holder.loadMovie(t.movie);
after that close the code view and add new layer
and instert a new movie clip
and give the instance name "holder"

and delete the layer that says text
....
now open the xml file
and add new attribute in all nodes
<icon image="icon1.png" movie="1.swf" tooltip="LimeWire"  />

<icons>

<icon image="icon1.png" movie="1.swf" tooltip="LimeWire"  />

<icon image="icon2.png" movie="2.swf" tooltip="Rubik's Cube"  />

<icon image="icon3.png" movie="3.swf" tooltip="Widgets"  />

<icon image="icon4.png" movie="4.swf" tooltip="Trash Can" />

<icon image="icon5.png"  movie="5.swf"tooltip="Compass"  />

<icon image="icon6.png"  movie="6.swf"tooltip="Toaster" />

<icon image="icon7.png" movie="7.swf" tooltip="Can of SPAM"  />

<icon image="icon8.png" movie="8.swf" tooltip="Apple iMac"  />

<icon image="icon9.png" movie="9.swf" tooltip="Apple iPod"  />

<icon image="icon10.png" movie="10.swf" tooltip="Terminal Window"  />

</icons>

NOTE YOU CAN USE .SWF FOR LOADING EXTRENAL SWF OR JPG FOR IMAGE FILE OR PNG.

note i also attaching the fla file that i did  AND XML

Is it possible to make the movie clip (holder) scrollable

flashmexCommented:
what do you mean scrollable means you want to the holder movie clip to act like a frame?

Hendrik WieseAuthor Commented:
That is correct yes. I want to have my swf file that I import to only be displayed on the "Holder" area, so should the swf length be longer than the holder then one should be able to scroll and see the rest.

I mean hight and not length.
