Server 2008 w/AD lose SMB access
One of my domain controllers (AD1) stops allowing SMB access. (e.g. \\ad1\whatever)
I can't figure out what/why this is happening. I see nothing in the Windows Logs that relates to this.
Any ideas? If you try to go to \\ad1\ it never opens. If I restart the server it works again for about a day.

What AV are running? This has been happening with some AV softwares like Symantec Endpoint and the fix is to fully remove the product. Disable TCP Checksum and IP Checksum or TCP Offload.

The AV is Symantec AntiVirus.
I have been working on a forefront solution to replace the Symantec one though. I can uninstall it and see if works tomorrow.

This is going to be your issue. Get the cleanwipe tool to fully remove SEP from your system because just uninstalling it will leave registry keys still place which causes issues. MS Forefront is a OK solution but McAfee Total Protection has been great on 2008 servers and clients. The product is actually not really expensive.

where do I get the clean wipe tool?
