Outlook express problem

I have a customer that has 2 large attachments in Outlook Express. She has no problem deleting small emails, but these 2 particular emails will not delete. I have run dial a fix and compacted the folders with the same result. Does anyone have a solution.

Hello gdearmond,

Where are the emails now?  Do you want to delete only the attachment? Or delete the email with attachment?

If emails are in Deleted Items folder, delete the deleted items.dbx file.  The file locatrion if found by going to Tools > Options > Maintenance tab > Store folder.  It is a hidden folder, so you need to unhide hidden folders.

Hope this helps!

If all else fails...just export the emails she wants to keep, and the address book. Then create a new Outlook Express profile annd import only those emails and her addressbook...then after you check everything, get rid of the old profile.

I'd backup the Outlook Express folder under the user profile too before deleting annything.

I have fixed this once.  Right click the folder, go to properties, and it shows where the folder file is stored.

Create a temp folder, and move everything you want to keep in this folder, just leave to two emails.  Exit outlook, take a backup of the affected file, delete it, and reenter outlook. If it's a system folder (like outbox), outlook will recreate it.  If not, recreate the deleted folder, and move your stuff back in.

Don't forget to backup your stuff!

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

The offending emails are in the inbox and want to delete the whole email.
Cannot move to delete folder. Says "Insufficient space". There is 52GB free space on the drive.

Move the other emails in Inbox to another folder. Then delete the inbox.dbx file as I posted above with OE closed. When you open OE, an new empty dbx file will be opened.

OK, sounds good, but I won't be able to see her for a couple of days. I'll let you know what happens.
Many thanks.  Gord
