VPN on server 2008

I need help setting vpn on server 2008, i have done routing and remote access using the custom option as i am using one nic, when i try to access from outside by vpn i get this error "windows is unable to conect to the network using the user name you provided" i using the administrator account to login to server by vpn. any help please i wil be very grateful.

    Right click my computer and under the "remote" tab check the allow users to connect remotely to this computer box.
    In the properties of the user account that is trying to remote in go to the Dial In tab and select allow.

    From the "remote" i selected "allow connection from any version  .." in user account "dial in" it set to "allow access" still when i connect from outside it say verifying user name password and then this windows open unabe to connect to the network
