FileMaker - SalesForce Connector

Is it possible to have bi-directional integration between FileMaker Server and SalesForce? If not, what about FileMaker to SalesForce one-way communication? I appreciate any information on this topic.

Can you explain the salesforce import or connection capabitlities? I doubt there are many people knowing both products here...

You can move data both ways, but it's going to be cumbersome. Take a look at the Data Loader package that comes with Salesforce. I believe you can import data thru the web interface as well. Exporting is handled by the loader.
The manual for this can be found here: https://na1.salesforce.com/help/doc/en/salesforce_data_loader.pdf

Your best bet would be to write export and import scripts if you want to sort of "sync" the two together. Once you get an import order setup in Salesforce, you will setup a script in filemaker to export data in CSV format, matching the column order. You might need some special fields to be created and populated. Alternatively, just do a default export out of filemaker, and manually match up the import order in salesforce. I didn't see an option to save that import order in Salesforce, that's why I suggested to do it the other way round.

As for importing back into filemaker, this can be problematic. Salesforce doesn't disclose it's schema, or export the ID keys of records. You can export your data in CSV format though. But  you end up in a situation where it becomes tricky to link your data back together when it comes back into filemaker. (example: the client table has an associated contacts table. They are linked by the client ID. You can export clients, but they won't show related contacts. You need to export contacts with the client ID to get a match).
Hope this helps you a bit.
