accessing a sql 2005 db with 2008 management studio

Hi Folks,

I seems to have problems when accessing a sql 2005 database with 2008 management studio.

Examples of my problems are Explorer is only showing tables in the dbo schema when using the same user show all tables in ssms 2005

Also I cannot view my databases in explorer in ssms 2008 but can in ssms 2005 with the same user

I have not experience these issues with using ssms 2005  on a 2000 db. Does anyone have any
idea what is going on here?

If you dont have permission to all databases and if you use management studio 2008, you will most likely get this error:
http://sqlblog.com/blogs/aaron_bertrand/archive/2008/07/07/a-little-management-studio-oops.aspx

To fix it:
click View, Object Explorer Details. Then, open Databases. Finally, click the header columns and uncheck Collation

David,

Did this fix it for you?

Also, you should try applying the latest Cumulative Update for SQL Server 2008 - I think that fixes this particular error too.
