Using sound card as ADC/DAC

I want to use a sound card as a primitive ADC/DAC.
How can I read input voltage in a microphone socket and output certain voltage to a headphone socket using C++?

    There are a number of projects that use a sound card as a basic oscilloscope.
    Might help to look at their code. You seem to be doing about the same thing.
    This is just one, there are several around.
