What is the difference between AVCHD 16M, AVCHD 9M and AVCHD 5M ? Can I really identify the difference visually ?

AVC HD 16M - Highest quality mode. Movies are recorded with AVCHD 1920 x 1080/60i format.

AVC HD 9M - High quality mode.  Movies are recorded with AVCHD 1440 x 1080/60i format.

AVC HD 7M - Standard quality mode.

AVC HD 5M - Long Play mode.

Recording time is high in 5M.

Recording time is less for 16 M.
