How to secure sql2000 and sql2005 from any remote query and adhoc query

Hi,
Is there any way I can secure SQL server from using executing any remote query and adhoc query?

1.)
start menu->All program->Microsoft SQL Server 2005->configuration tools->SQL Server surface area configuration

2.)

Click on "Surface area configuration for services and connection" from SQL Server surface area configuration windows ( you will find blue link, second from last)

3.)

expand "Database ENgine" and select "Remote Connectin" from left side panel

4.)
select "Local connection only" radio button than click on "Apply" and "OK"

I'm trying to blocked from any remote or adhoc query, that is my goals

in that case simply disable remote connection.

if you don't want to block remote connection and just want them to insert and update in database but wants them to view inserted records than create one user for remote and give only SELECT permission to that user so nobody will be able to insert, update or delete anything.

if you want to disable remote connection, you can do so by selecting "local connection only" from service area configuration window. you can see steps from
