i m using windows vist home edition, here i attached screen shot of desktop, Desktop icon are not showing properly some unknow file type i sthere on the icon, how to bring to desktop icon to normal look.

    You might also try running SFC SCANNOW.
    Just insert your XP CD while holding the Shift key down for about fifteen seconds. This prevents the CD from auto running.
    Release Shift and select Start and then select Run.
    In the Run box type the following
    This takes about fifteen minutes and is designed to replace corrupted/missing system files.
