Will Google's Checkout API let me fully integrate?

I've been reading through the Google Checkout API documentation because we want to implement a completely self-contained shopping cart and checkout system into our website. But I am unable to figure out how to perform the most critical task --- Passing credit cart information across to the API from our checkout forms and getting the order to process.

Can someone point me towards any expertise on the subjects of Google Checkout's API? We're even willing to hire someone to build the fundamental functions we need for our PHP Wordpress website.

Please help.
