The User Profile Service Failed the Logon -- User Profile cannot be loaded

I am trying to log into my fresh installation of Windows Server 2008 with a user that has NEVER logged into this machine before. I was previously logged in as the administrator, and I made this user part of the local administrators group. I get the same error: "The User Profile Service Failed the Logon -- User Profile cannot be loaded" regardless of logging in through remote desktop or locally.

I used regedit already to look for the profile entry (with the .bak) extension, but since this account has never logged into this machine before there is not even the normal registry entry without the .bak extension.

How can I get this user logged into my server?

You could also try to do a runas when you are logged in and try to login as that user to see if that might work/and or trigger any other error messages.
