How do I clean my Active Directory?

I have 2 Domain Controllers in local office and 2 DCs in remote office servicing same domain. They were also part of same site. Remote office was shut down and DCs were not "demoted" by DC Promo. They were simply turned off. Authentication issues started happening in domain so 2 DCs from remote offices were removed from "Domain Controllers" OU and site in th Active Directory. I still experience authentication issues. How can I fix this? Or make sure these DCs are removed comlpletely from the AD?
