How to rename a Mac OS Volume

I am having to do a reload on a mac and somehow I messed up and the volume is names the same as the restore CD. How can I delete this volume and create a new one or just rename the volume?

As long as file sharing is turned off, you should be able to click on the name (not the icon) in finder, wait a couple of seconds and click on it again so it is highlighted, then rename it.

Alternatively, click on the icon to highlight it, type command-i (for Get Info) and rename it in the Get Info window.
