SSIS Variables

I am running SQL Server 2005 SP3. My inquiry is two fold.
1. How can I change the Scope of a Variable without simply deleting it and recreating it?
2. Can I copy a Variable or a group of Variables from one Package to another either in the same Solution or between Solutions?
A feasible answer to one or both of these will be a huge time saver.

You can't in the SSIS Designer (BIDS), but you can if you edit the .dtsx file in an XML editor. However, I would not reccomend that.

Nope. You can copy a package and reuse it, thus reusing the variables, but not the variables only. Of course, you could edit the XML but tricky.
