Load SQL Server 2000 DTS Design Components

I've loaded the SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility pack and the 2000 DTS Design Components, but I still get an error when trying to open a DTS package within SQL Server 2008 Management Studio. The error text is below.

TITLE: Object Explorer
------------------------------

SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages. Install the special Web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components" to use this feature. (Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI)

Not sure what build version of SQL2008 you are on but you may want to install the Service Pack 1 that was released about 2 weeks (if you haven't already). We had a problem initially with the RTM version of SQL2008 where is was not processing our OLAP Cubes successfully and the only fix was to install (at that time) Cumulative Update 1 (CU1) for SQL2008. We are now in the process of upgrading our SQL2008 machines to Service Pack 1 which is a combination of CU1 thru CU3 plus 6 fixes from CU4.

Thank you for the effort on resolving the issue.  It turned out installing SQL Server 2000 allowed DTS to work within SQL Server 2008.
