PHP: Dynamic Accordion - Similar to dependent child select menus populated by parent menu

I'm looking to create a "Pretty" alternative solution to dynamic select menus that have a dependent child menu to them.

What i'm ideally thinking is something like a JQuery based accordion.
The first tab is equivalent to the parent select menu and lists all available options.
When an option is selected from the tab, the accordion will open the 2nd tab (Child select menu) and display its options.

When the user has selected through the accordion, the values are saved/submitted and redirected to a new page that will filter the selected parameters.

Does anyone know where to even start with this?
Thanks

Hi there,
Take a look at this page: http://docs.jquery.com/Ajax
all you have to do is something like this

$("#accordeon").click(function({
   // use on of the functions provided on the page I gave you
});
