BES Emails not forwarded when Out Of Office is on

Hi,

I am running BES 4.1.6.14 with Exchange 2007 SP1

A user has a Blackberry 8900 and reported that they enabled Out Of Office in Outlook whilst they were away and did not receive any mail on their device. They tried reconciling and restarting the device but still did not receive any mail.

When they came back into the Office and turned Out Of Office off in Outlook, all of their mail was delivered.

I have been doing some testing with a another user, using the same model and mail is still forwarded to the device when Out Of Office is switched on.

I have checked the IT Policy and the User in BES but none of the settings indicate that mail would not be forwarded if Out Of Office was switched on.

Has anybody had this issue before? Are there any settings in BES or on the device itself that specify what action to take when Out Of Office is enabled?

Thanks

Hi, I have seen\heard of this issue a number of times but it is extremely rare.  On the times that I have been present it was found that the folder redirection settings had become disabled.  As a test can you please enabled the Out of Office again for this user and see if the issue can be replicated?

Another example of this issue:

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.  I have already tried enabling Out Of Office again and mail does stop.  I will try and carry out the solution in the example you have posted.

Do they need to be carried out when Out Of Office is enabled?

Thanks

Technically it shouldnt but try it a few times to see the result.  Also instead of setting the Out of Office via Outlook go into Messages > Press menu > Select Options > Select Email Settings > Change Use Out of Office Reply to Yes > Set an Out of Office notice below > Exit and Save.   Also please apply BES 4.1 SP6 MR5 to your BES as this will resolve any current known issues.

Resend the service book back to the device from the BES, wait 20 minutes and test.

The user is now reporting that some mail is not received on the Blackberry until the next day or sometimes they have deleted the email in Outlook and then it will be delivered to their Blackberry at a later time.

I have checked in BES and the user has 26 pending data packets.  The last contact time is 1 hour and 30 minutes ago.

It looks like the device is having problems contacting the BES server.  It is configured to use the mobile provider and connects to the corporate WIFI when in the offiice.  WIFI is configured via the default IT Policy.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Ok, I deleted the service book on the device, removed the battery, inserted battery and powered the device on.  I resent the service book from the BES console and it now seems to be working ok.  I have tested sending mail to the device with Out of Office enabled, WIFI enabled and WIFI disabled.  It now seems to be working ok.
