I have a dell optiplex 330 and on the manual it says I have one PCI Express x16 card connector (SLOT1) low profile. I'm not sure if I buy this intel RAID card will work on that slot...

Intel's requirement is:
1 - PCI Express* Rev 1.0A, x8 lane width 2.5 Gbps

    Assisted Solution

using a PCI Express x8 card in a x16 slot is fine and the card says it is a low profile one so all should be fine

the x16 slots are really intended for graphics cards though so its possible thetre may be something in the Dell BIOS that prevents this from working, I'd check with Dell to be sure

    Accepted Solution

I've used RAID x4 controller cards in x16 slots intended for SLI video, so it shouldn't be a problem.  They really don't design them to be only for video, as the PCI-e slot is a generic interface.

    Assisted Solution

I know they are interchangeable but I've had an issue before with an HP which wouldnt take a graphics card in a slot that HP had locked to only be available to disk controllers

I dont know the Dell model in question so cant comment
