    Thank you!
I managed to get this working ok to turn Showplan ON and OFF. (syntax important :-))
But now I cannot find the Showplan.out file  - even when I search the C:\ drive - ??

      Call SetRegValue("[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Debug]", "JETSHOWPLAN", "ON")
      Call SetRegValue("[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\3.5\Engines\Debug]", "JETSHOWPLAN", "ON")
      debug.print "Showplan 3.5 " GetRegValue("[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\3.5\Engines\Debug]", "JETSHOWPLAN")
      debug.print "Showplan 4.0 " GetRegValue("[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Debug]", "JETSHOWPLAN")
