Does winexit ScreenSaver work on windows server 2008

We have a group policy applied internally to use the winexit screen saver to logoff users and force termination of applications after 15 minutes.

I have just installed a new windows 2008 standard server into the domain. It seems to apply the group policy correctly to use the winexit screen saver, however the settings for the winexit screen saver in the registry are not applied and it gives the following error message "Error encounted while creating registry section".

Now firstly this is happening for a domain admin, also I have applied the recommened fix to the permissions in the registry to allow everyone the set value and create subkey rights for the HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMappings\Control.ini  key, however the error still occurs.

Has anyone got winext.scr working correctly on a WIndows 2008 server?

WinExit doesn't work with Vista or 2008.  It has to do with the way the it works by calling the API.  And like all Microsoft reskit tools, they are unsupported.
Looking through the 2008 reskit, it doesn't appear they have included a 2008 version of the tool.  I fear they may have abandoned it (like many good tools of the past).
There may be hope with ActiveExit ( as it has indicates Vista support is coming in the next release.  Since Vista and Server 2008 share similar security architectures, it may work on server 2008.  Unfortunately this product is not free.
I'm afraid you may be out of luck
