Remote desktop conection not importing local printers!!

Hello, I have 3 terminal servers (all windows 2003) that users get in to. they all work ok exept one. Every now and then the users tried to print and it made the spooler service crash and freeze the server.

So i followed some steps to fix that issue, which was caused by a bad driver, so i deleted all the printers in the server and reinstalled them again with updated and correct drivers.  The spooler service doenst crash anymore, but now users cannot import their local regular printer and label printers to the server like they can in the other 2 servers.  How can i get the server to import those printers again?

hi

please download the tool  from the following location. run the tool and send the results.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9AD27BE9-40DB-484F-862E-38A094EEEAF7&displaylang=en

the tool will help resolve Terminal Server Printer Redirection errors by scanning the event log of a Terminal Server to create a custom mapping file for administrators.

Hi, thanks.
but already tried that, assigned the drivers to the printers that it showed, restarted but still the same.
Go to ther TS server and go to All programs --> Administrative Tools --> Terminal service configuration (the middle one) --> Connections --> Right Click RDP-tcp --> Properties --> Client Settings tab
In there, you want to make sure the Windows printer mapping option is unchecked.

Also, you may want to check my other solution to ensure the driver has been imported properly to TS.

lnkevin, the server has the windows printer mapping unchecked already, also from your other post, the clients have the printer option selected and all the printer drivers are installed on server. Still not working..
From the link to my other post, did you check Data execution prevention to make sure you have it in place? If not, get it done.

I agree. We tried every possible methods that related to TS printing without a result. Reinstall OS may fix it magically. Last sanity check, get in the NIC property of the server and ensure File Printer Sharing option is checked. Also, make sure the local printers are currently mapped on your clients so TS can import it to the server. If everything was set, we are out of options. Reinstall is needed. After the installation, make sure you uncheck the Windows printer mapping option in  Client Settings tab of your TS Configuration. This feature enable printer mapping from client to the server so user can import any of their local printer to the server.
