HP 1040i DVD Burner Driver

I have the HP DVD 1040i dvd burner installed on my computer.  I had been working perfectly,  however I had to reformat my computer.  I cannot find the installation cd for the dvd burner, and my computer isn't recognizing it.  Any ideas on where to find the drivers so that I actually have a working burner again?

If you are using win2k, xp or vista, you don't need a driver for optical drives. All you need is the PC's chipset drivers installed, and a DVD burning software (if you aren't using vista), as previous windows versions can't write to DVD's using anything native. A good such tool is cdburnerxp, which is free:

Also consider IMGBurn as well http://www.imgburn.com/  Free and good.
