mailboxes do not show in restore list in Backup Exec 12.5

I am backing up our exchange 2007 sp1 server with Backup exec 12.5 rev 2213.  I select the information store and system state.  The backup completes correctly, all information store is backed up and logs flushed.  Size of backup matches my information store size.  When I go to do a restore, in my selections, only the system state is shown, no where can i drill down through the information store, because it is not there.  I backup to a backup-to-disk folder.

probably didnt buy backup exec with the exchange add-on module. few hundred bucks extra. lets you back it up but not restore it unless you have that mod licensed.

of course we have that!  Again, i can select the entire information store and all cooresponding mailboxes within and they successfully back up.  I have the log files to show it.  It is when I am trying to do a restore that no selections exist.

1. Is your backup to disk folder on the local machine?

2. Did you check the option to do a brick-level backup of the IS?

You cannot do a brick-level backup to a remote folder. This will cause the entire exchange backup to no operate properly.

we have a stand alone backup server and the backup-to-disk folder resides on it.  From our backup job, we have our selections pointing to the exhange server running the agent.  within the backup job properties under Microsoft Exchange, i have Use Backup Exec Granular Recovery Technology checked.  Thank you for the quick responses.

Check that out. I suggest trying the backup without the GRT and see if you get the same result.

i will follow this, but when the job completes, it completes with 100%, NO exceptions.  The logs all indicate every single thing completed 100% successfully, so I do not believe this is the answer to the problem.  Thank you.
