Do I make my dial plan in Exchange UM the same as my PBX?

Hello,
I am looking to implement a pilot of Unified Messaging within my environment.  I have Exchange 2007, a Mediant 2000 gateway and Intertel PBX.
I have read many articles on how to implement from the perspective of the Mediant 2000, but none are explicit on how to set up Exchange to work with it.

My question is, on the Exchange Server, does my dial plan need to reflect the same 4 digit numbers in the PBX?

Additionally, does someone have a really good document on the Exchange UM setup, that explains what needs to be entered in easy to understand terms?
Thanks in advance!

This would depend on if you would like to remove the user from the PBX or run OCS and the PBX at the same time which is called  remote call control in OCS.

Dial Plans are a tricky concept in OCS and will depend on how you would like to set up UM.  Example will inbound calls and outbound calls from the PSTN go to the gateway or PBX.  Or in other words will you have an upstream or downstream set up.

My understanding of the recommended setup for the Intertel PBX is that the PBX and Intertel voicemail stay in place, but that the UM gains connectivity to it.  If I am reading the documentation correctly, the Audiocodes Mediant gateway connects to the PBX, so everything goes through the PBX, both inbound and outbound.

So, if my PBX dial plan is 2700 - 2799, 2800 - 2899, 4300 - 4399 and 4400 - 4499, should my OCS/Exchange UM dial plan be the same?
Yes your dial plan should be the same with
