I have a Dell PowerEdge 2650 on which I just installed Windows 2008 Server, but I am having problems with the Shutdown/reboot process taking a long time (25-30 minutes primarily spent on shutting down)
This is a stand alone machine. I have tried a couple of things already:

- Clear pagefile at shutdown is set to disabled.
- I have tried clean boot

You will also receive points from this one that is still open:

If you have installed any other programs on server, shutdown the services for those programs before shutdown and see if that resolves problem.

Are there any other features that you notice are going slow (Internet, nslookup, file browsing)?

No, everything seems fine. Just slow restart/boot

There is one System Error in the Eventlog don't know how I could have missed it before, so not sure if it just got there:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0
This could very likely be the problem since the logentry right before (28 minutes earlier) The system detected that network adapter Local Area Connection 2 was connedted to the network, and has initiated normal operation.

I don't think it is a hardware problem since I can recreate a W2K3 mirror on the machine and it works perfectly.
