Vista 64 Ulitmate - Can't create restore points after booting from hibernated state.

I'm trialling Windows Home Server (Power Pack 2) and so far I like what I see apart from this one problem that is a deal breaker for me.

I cannot get WHS to back up my Vista Ultimate 64bit machine if it has been started from a hibernated state as VSS fails to create a restore point.

I've scoured the net and cannot find anything relating to VSS failing after hibernation (just the other way around).

I cannot create a restore point, either automatically or manually if the machine has been booted from a hibernated state.

Whenever I try, I get the following error Dialog Box...

"The backup did not complete successfully. A shadow copy could not be
created for the following reason:
The shadow copy provider had an unexpected error while trying to process the
specified operation. (0x8004230F). "

I have had the odd
"The restore point could not be created for the following reason:
Catastrophic Failure (0x8000FFFF)
Please Try again." error too but that was fixed after doing all the stuff below.

The "Volume Shadow Copy" service is set to 'Manual' and is in the 'started' state. Changing to Automatic makes no difference.

I'm getting
VSS 34 @ 8193 error messages :
"Volume Shadow Copy Service error: The VSS event class is not registered.  This will prevent any VSS writers from receiving events.  This may be caused due to a setup failure or as a result of an  application's installer or uninstaller."

and

"Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance.  hr = 0x80040154."

respectively.

I've attempted to run the following from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940184

NB. [X] means it failed (probably as it's Vista 64, but perhaps someone could elaborate on that).

Net stop vss
Net stop swprv
regsvr32 ole32.dll [X]
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 vss_ps.dll
Vssvc /Register
regsvr32 /i swprv.dll
regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll [X]
regsvr32 es.dll [X]
regsvr32 stdprov.dll
regsvr32 vssui.dll [X]
regsvr32 msxml.dll [X]
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml4.dll [X]

I've ran chkdsk /f on all drives and defragmented them (no errors) . All drives have plenty of free space (1GB free for my 3GB dedicated email partition), about 50% free on the other much bigger drives.

I've been through
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76227-system-restore-disk-space.html - no luck

when running from cold restart and after hibernated restart.

I've now run out of ideas. Anything else I can try?

Not much except that I notice Kaspersky is in the mix. Going to uninstall it for some testing but I'm in some doubt if it will work.

As I said, it all works fine so long as I don't hibernate. I've left my PC on for 3 days and the WHS backup worked flawlessly, getting the Vista PC to create a restore point before taking a backup.

As soon as I boot from hibernation, Restore Point creation fails and therefore WHS can no longer make the backup.

Uninstalled Kaspersky V6 for Workgroups and all is well.
