EMC AX150 UPS Battery

I recently purchased a EMC AX150 off of ebay. The unit is brand new was never used. I have set it up and everything however I do not have the APC Battery backup that you need in order to use the system. The system that i have has 2 controllers so from what I have read you need to have a UPS and attech the special cable that the AX150 came with to the UPS for verification etc.

I need to know which APC ups will work with this EMC SAN. The connector that came with the AX150 is a RJ-45 SERIAL end that goes into the EMC unit, then the other end is a SERIAL Female connector. I went to newegg and bestbuy to find a UPS to test out and all the new APC units have a female serial connector not a male connector. If i get a gender changer what are my probabilities that this will work? or is there anyone else out here that has an AX150 that can tell me which UPS to purchase. The one that was used with this SAN prior to it going EOL was an APC 1U 750VA unit which is now discontinued.

HELP!   please :)

serial is usually female where it plugs into the device.

You can get a gender-bender at Radio Shack for about $4.00

and you should be able to get it to work with that, however, if it does not, you can reverse pins 2 and 3 (Send and recieve) and (That makes it a null-modem cable) or you can buy a null modem cable for it.

Usually the pin outs are online...

If you can get the pinout from each end you may be able to construct a rj45 - rj45 cable for a APC box.

I couldn't find the pinout for you, contact the EMC2 Engineers, they will send you the cable pinout.

When You bought the AX it should have had AX enclouser (disk array with storage processors) and Power Supply Unit.
Here is a AX 150 hardware overview

I think you cannot change Power Suply's with some kind of UPS.

You can use your AX150 without this Power Supply, but then you don't have write cache

I may try the diy serial Cable, but need some help on the pinout.

I know that i lose caching which is why i need thr ups. Problem is that it didnt come with one and all the new apx ups's only have the stupid data port to usb connector i need serial.

I think you cannot use any other ups than EMC's.
