Inconsistent Print results on multiple documents

I have an app that performs a mailmerge using rtf documents at the base and my merge is creating the correct number of documents in my database (file system). However, on occasion some users complain that on printing all selected documents from the application (pressing a print button on a front end for which should then prints using default printer settings) some of the documents are not printing and yet others are printing many, many times.

My developers and I are unable to replicate the issue - has anyone ever seen similar issues and have any idea where we should start looking? A lot of factors are in the mix here and given we cannot reproduce it is difficult to know where to start.

Can get other information regarding some elements but will take a while - differing users, printers, makes, software builds etc. are at play too.

Many thanks :-)

" some of the documents are not printing and yet others are printing many, many times."

Normally, this would be due to a problematic driver on the client's PC.

    To remove them......

    Delete the printers.
    net stop spooler
    net start spooler
Printers and Faxes>File (or rt click an open part of the applet for Vista)>Server Properties>Drivers>Delete them ALL there
Reinstall the needed printers with the latest drivers.

Thanks for the comment; sorry for delay in responding... trying to fix the problem and release a new build of our software.

There were actually two problems that were causing this odd issue and printer drivers had nothing to do with it at all.

One problem was that we use a multiple word document print which is not supported for over 255 docs in Microsoft word (see

Second problem was that our grid application (dev express) would cause the problem if certain columns were sorted on; this component of the view of the grid has been reprogrammed and we are now fixed.

Took some testing and identifying to get there.
