How enable install permissions on SBS 2008 network?
What's the proper way to enable users to install software on their Windows XP desktops in an SBS 2008 environment?
In previous versions of SBS, I created a DesktopAdmins group. I'd place each user I wished to grant application installation permissions to in this group. Then, once a client machine had logged on to the network, I'd log into its local administrative user account and make the local administrator group a member of the DOMAIN\DesktopAdmins group, too. That solved this problem.
That method does not work in SBS 2008, I have discovered. So, how do I permit users to install programs (such as graphics programs requiring .exe use, Adobe Reader installs, etc.)?
