Partial Postback not working when required field validato present in the form

Hello Guys, I have started to use Visual Web Developer 2008 to develop a HRIS web application for my company. I am using the update panel to do a partial postback, but when i click the button inside the update panel, the required field validator gets fired which is validating a text box. Not sure why its happening, but i though the update panel, should do a partial postback, giv the result and then proceed to the text box. Please guys, guide me as to where i am wrong. Thanks in advance..

The required field validator will be fired before the page actually does a callback. This is because the RFV control uses javascript to validate the control.

Hope this helps,
Dustin

Hi,

If you wan't not to use validation on button click, set the property of the button CausesValidation=false
