How EF files are linked wih Glibc ?

hi , I am  a win32 programmer and new to the linux.
I want to know the inside and outside of how the ELF files are linked with the
shared libraries.

I just hit this command ,

#elfread -l /bin/ls | grep interpreter

and it gives me the output ,
[Requesting program interpreter: /lib/ld-linux.so.2 ]

what this really means ?please give me something to read .....

It says that the program must be dynamically loaded by /lib/ld-linux.so.2.

Ulrich Drepper is one of the principal designers of ELF / glibc. His home page is http://people.redhat.com/drepper/
There are some interesting papers there.
