The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0
I have installed a DVD/CDRW (Sony NEC Optiarc CRX890A - CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo drive) on my Dell PowerEdge 2650 running W2K8. I believe this drive should be compatible with PE2650.
On startup the server hangs for 30 minutes and comes up with:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0
If I disable the IDEPort it reboots in 5 minutes.
Any ideas what I can do to fix the problem?
Any better suggestions on a CDRW/DVD drive that will work in this server?

Make sure you are using the correct cable, and that it is properly aligned. Then check that you have set the proper jumpers on the drive. Also check if there are other devices connected to that IDE channel.
