If you go to most memory vendor sites you will find memory configurators that will give you your options based on either the maker of the PC or the maker of the motherboard. That may answer your question.

Just to verify, it is this Mobo, right?

Possible, the specs are similar, they support different voltages the elte is 2.6v and the elpe is 2.8. According to OCZ's specs the elte is suppose to be able to take upto 3.0v(without voiding the warranty) so matching the elpe's 2.8 shouldn't be a problem.

After googling, they should work together. Though, is there any specific reason why you don't buy cheap mobo that supports old(er) proc's as the DDR ram is very expensive, and you can just a DDR2-able Mobo(as the one you linked) and the RAM, for just as much as 2x1GB of the elpe RAM.

Yes that is my motherboard, so in short the voltages are different ? My motherboard gives me a ton of options.

I'm running liquid cooling on my motherboard right now and also my video card is liquid cooled don't wanna swap the mobo

I see now. They should run together, though it's always best to run the same RAM, but you shouldn't have a problem

With that board the elpe memory should work just fine, just remember to adjust the memory voltage up to 2.8 before installing it.

There has to be places that stock old memory... even if they aren't in production. Have you tried giving OCZ a call and ask if they have any dealers selling it still?

Let me be honest. Now days, hardware is so cheap. I built myself a very nice AMD computer, and it only cost me around $400. Though I didn't buy a new mouse, monitor, or keyboard if you can save those you can save yourself a hundred of two. You really might want to look into it, there are killer deals going on newegg right now.

Yea your right if it wasn't for the liquid cooling setup I have on it I would be more prone to do it cause I dunno if the cooling supports AM2 i could keep my video card though

DDR memory is kinda spendy, for what 2Gb(2x1Gb) sticks cost($110) you can get 6Gbs(3x2Gb) of ddr3 1600. Depending on what the system is used for and what os it runs you may be best off saving that money for a new build or a motherboard, cpu, cpu water block and memory upgrade. Going from 2Gb to 4Gb on xp doesn't give much or any speed increase and if you have a 32-bit os it won't see all(or use) all 4Gb.

I have never done anything with water cooling, but how could it not support a AM2 Chip?

jamietonerCommented:
Even with DDR2 you can get 4Gb(2x2Gb) of really nice DDR2 1066 for $75. Also most 939 water blocks I have seen are compatible with am2.

@jamietoner,

I went to fry's a few months ago, and was able to pick up some Crucial Ballistix RAM 2x2GB sticks for $30 after rebate. A killer deal, normally it was near $100. So it can save you even more money, there's always crazy deals going on.

I just checked my block does support AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3, AMD 939/940/754, Intel LGA-775, and Intel 603/604 so upgrading motherboard wont be a problem !!!

If i do upgrade I will need motherboard, memory and prcoessor everything else I have

How much do you want to spend?
0

Jacob_WallCommented:
Yes, but they are dirt cheap. If you buy the Phenom X3/X4 series they usually have good combo's with Mobo's. And if you have a Fry's Electronics near you, you can run over there and get RAM cheaper than newegg. They will however not match any prices with tigerdirect/newegg. So pretty much, CPU/Mobo @ Newegg... RAM @ Fry's.

Also when doing an upgrade like this it would be best to reinstall the os so take a good backup before the upgrade.
