Terminal Services is not a valid Win32 application.

I am running Windows VIsta Ultimate 64bit with remote desktop.  A few weeks ago it worked fine but now when I try connecting it won't.  I checked services and terminal services was not running.  When I tried to start it I got an error saying "Windows could not start the Terminal Services service on Local Computer.  Error 193: 0xc1."  There was also an error in the event viewer that said "The Terminal Services service terminated with the following error:
Terminal Services is not a valid Win32 application."

mstsc.exe is the client software used to connect to remote computers.  The problem I have is with the Terminal Services service itself.  I am using Avira Antivir which I have set to update and run every morning and that hasn't found anything.

Thank you the date was different from another Vista computer I have so I replaced it with the one from the other computer and it works again!
no worries it does sound like it was caused by a virus or similar imho so make sure you do a search for all the files with the same data as termdd.sys as they could be virus's
