Well, you can dump the save file (DMPOBJ), but that is going to be much worse than just restoring a single file. You can transfer the save file via FTP to a PC, and use a hex editor, but you'll need to understand save file format to do that (and you'll have to read it in hex, since it is stored in EBCDIC, not ASCII.

Easiest thing to do is just restore the file.  You can restore it to a different system, if you have one (development versus production), or restore it to a different library, or to QTEMP.

jSAVF Utility might help you, unless the SAVF is compressed with *MEDIUM or *HIGH compression:  http://www.anerty.net/software/file/jSAVF/

I haven't used it, so I can't recommend it, but Julian Wong offers a PC Utility called VIEWSAVF for $29 that allows you to view savf contents on the PC:  http://www.juliansoft.com/
