I have created a custom install of MSOFFICE 2007 so that it automatically uses the users domain credentials to create the outlook profile.  It does not seem to be working.  When the profile is generated it gets the message that it cannot connect to exchange and the window pops up with the server location and mailbox.

The server is prefilled with this:
/O=DOMA IN/OU=MIL/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=EXSERVERNAME
(notice that there seems to be a space between the actual domain name "DOMA IN")

I don't understand where this string comes from.  In the office .msp file i just specified %username% for the user name and for the server name I specified EXSERVERNAME.DOMAINNAME.biz which is the FQDN of the exchange server.

Can anyone help me figure out why automatic profile creation is not working until I manually clear that line out and just type in EXSERVERNAME.  I don't even have to use the FQDN as long as I remove that string that keeps getting autogenerated I can successfully create the profile.

Autodiscover only works with Exchange 2007, not 2K3 or below.

I am not trying to use autodiscover. I just want the profile to automatically detect the exchange server for the user and create a profile if none exists. This worked fine in 2003.  Does outlook 2007 only work properly with exchange 2007?

Again, I am not trying to use the autodiscover feature.  WIth outlook 2003 and exchange 2003 you can configure outlook so that it automatically generates a profile to the appropriate exchange server for the user.  Did they remove this legacy functionality from outlook 2007?

Outlook 2007 uses the Autodiscover feature to populate that information, so it appears that is the case.
