Internet Explorer 7 being reported as Internet Explorer 6

Some websites that I use do a browser check and are reporting my IE 7 as being IE 6. I am running XP Pro w/SP3 and IE 7. Where do I find out where it is getting the wrong information from?

war1 - Thank you for the reply and link. It is very helpful in understanding what is going.

My browser is reporting BOTH MSIE 7.0 and MSIE 6.0 in the User Agent string. After I modify the registry to change the one entry that is showing 6.0, and run the javascript to display the UA string, it changes back to 6.0 again.
The website I'm using for testing still shows I'm using MSIE 6.0.
The UA string, after you change it back to IE7, automatically changes back to IE6?

If so, some program is setting your IE string to IE6.  Check if your have a firewall or router doing that.

It did change back a couple of times, but now it seems stable. Thank you again for the link provided above.
